    Noémi Borcsányi-Andits was born in 1999 in Szombathely (Hungary), where she also studied sculpture. Since 2018 she is studying stage design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. In addition to her numerous projects in film and theatre, she is also active as a visual artist (exhibition in Vienna 2021). Her next work is the stage for a diploma production at the Max Reinhardt Seminar of the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in autumn 2022.

    Arabella Fenyves is a presenter and singer based in Vienna, Austria.
    She hosts the music program on Vienna’s only classical music station, radio klassik Stephansdom, and interviews the stars on her show Rubato. She hosts concerts in Vienna’s big concert halls and acts as a presenter at cultural occasions.
    The soprano performs classical repertoire at concerts, galas and multi-disciplinary happenings in the Great Hall of the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Golden Hall in the Musikverein Wien as well as internationally. She works in film music and performed alongside composer John Lunn at the gala dedicated to Downton Abbey.
    Arabella Fenyves studied drama and theatre arts at Goldsmiths University in London, was born in New York City and English is her mother tongue.

    Aila Ben Franken (she/they/he) was born in Cologne and is a third-year acting student at the Max Reinhardt Seminar of the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Since the 2021/22 season, Aila Ben has been performing at the Burgtheater in the production “Mädchen wie die”, which has now been nominated for the STELLA Award.

    Ida Golda (she/her) was born in Vienna in 1998. She completed her acting studies at the Schauspielschule Krauss in 2019. During her studies, she appeared in various plays, including “Concord Floral” at Volx/Margareten, and also filmed the web series “ZETT”, directed by Paul Harather. Her most recent performance was at the Dschungel Wien in the play “Wenn ich groß bin, will ich frau*lenzen”, for which she was awarded the STELLA20 in the category “Herausragende darstellerische Leistung”. From autumn 2022 she can be seen at the Theater an der Gumpendorfer Straße (TAG) in “Uncle Vanya” and in the revival of “A More Modest Proposal”.

  • Simeon Goshev

    Simeon Goshev is a Bulgarian pianist, based in Vienna. His vivid and exciting interpretations, especially of compositions of the 20th and 21st century have been highly praised all over Europe.
    The last years in Simeon’s career have been marked by success. For the current season – 2021/22, he has solo engagements in the Musikverein Vienna, Royalm Theater in Warsaw, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa and many others. His first solo CD – with Bulgarian piano music is expected to be released in February 2022 as well as an artist’s portrait of his – a professional video clip.
    In 2019 he won the big prize of the Bösendorfer competition in Vienna and received the 2nd Prize in the most important international piano competition in Bulgaria – “Pantcho Vladigerov”. In November the same year, after a busy season with concerts around Europe, he also debuted as soloist of one of Bulgaria’s most prominent orchestras – the National Radio Orchestra, performing Beethoven 4th Piano Concerto.
    Goshev has recorded for the Bulgarian National Radio, the Bulgarian National Television, the Bavarian Radio and the Austrian National Radio (ORF). He is a laureate of many international piano competitions: “Leos Janacek” in Brno, “De Bach au Jazz” in Paris, “Evangelia Tjiarri” in Cyprus and many more.
    The young Bulgarian pianist has finished his musical education at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna after studying with world class musicians like Stefan Vladar, Oleg Maisenberg and Liliya Zilberstein.
    Goshev is deeply interested and involved in many of the aspects of classical music – in February 2021 he finished a PhD in the National Conservatory in Sofia, Bulgaria with dissertation on Stravinsky’s ballets and in October 2021 he became part of the esteemed teaching team of the piano department at the mdw.
    As from 2021 he is an official Bösendorfer Artist – representing one of the world’s leading piano brands

  • Gerold Gruber

    Gerold Gruber studied musicology and art history at the University of Vienna as well as singing at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Since 1984 he has been a member of the Institute for Musicology and Interpretation Research at the mdw. His work focuses on Austrian music of the 18th–21st century, methods of musical analysis and music by ostracized composers. In 2006 he founded the exil.arte society which became a research center and one of the main research centers of the mdw in 2016 (with archive and exhibition space).

  • Heinz Holliger

    Heinz Holliger is one of the most versatile and extraordinary musical personalities of our time. Born in Langenthal, he studied oboe (with Emile Cassagnaud and Pierre Pierlot), piano (with Sava Savoff and Yvonne Lefébure) and composition (with Sándor Veress and Pierre Boulez) in Bern, Paris and Basel.
    After winning first prizes at the international competitions in Geneva and Munich, he embarked on an incomparable career as an oboist. Some of the most important composers of the present day have dedicated their works to him. But the rediscovery of forgotten works, for example by Jan Dismas Zelenka or August Lebrun, are also among his outstanding achievements.
    As a conductor, Heinz Holliger has worked for many years with leading orchestras and ensembles worldwide. He is the recipient of numerous awards and prizes (Ernst-von-Siemens-Musikpreis, Zürcher Festspielpreis, Rheingau-Musikpreis, Grand Prix Suisse de Musique, Robert Schumann-Preis, etc.) as well as record awards (Diapason d’Or, Midem Classical Award, Edison-Award, Grand Prix Mondial du Disque, several German Record Awards).
    Heinz Holliger is one of the most sought-after composers of our time. His works include the opera “Snow White”, the Scardanelli cycle, the violin concerto, COncErto for orchestra, “Dämmerlicht” for soprano and orchestra, “Romancendres” for cello and piano, “Increschantüm” for soprano and string quartet, “Reliquien” after words by Franz Schubert for soprano, clarinet and piano, as well as numerous other works for vocal and instrumental ensembles, chamber and solo ensembles. In 2018, his second opera “Lunea” was premiered at the Zurich Opera.
    Numerous CD recordings with Heinz Holliger as oboist, conductor and composer have been released by Teldec, Philips, ECM, Hänssler, Audite, etc., including a series of the most important orchestral works by Charles Koechlin with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, the complete symphonic works of Robert Schumann with the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, a complete recording of the Schubert symphonies with the Basel Chamber Orchestra and a recording of the opera “Lunea”.

    Matthias Kranebitter was born 1980 in Vienna, Austria. He studied electro-acoustic composition with Dieter Kaufmann and German Toro-Perez, film and media composition with Klaus-Peter Sattler and piano with Christiane Karajeva at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He continued his studies with a postgraduate course at the Conservatory van Amsterdam as well as at the University of Graz with Alexander Stankovski and Beat Furrer.
    His music is characterized by aspects of our media society, a dense accumulation and mash-up from everyday life’s sounds to a flittering-colourful and hyper-heterogenic sound flood, a comic-like, grotesque distortion of clichéd musical gestures with an ironic ambivalence, aiming for a culture-liberated Art brut in music.
    His works received awards such as 1st Prize Gustav Mahler Composition Competition 2006, the 1st Prize Project Young Composers Gaudeamus Music Week Amsterdam 2009 or the Impuls Composition Competition Graz 2013, Publicity Prize of the SKE Austro Mechana 2013 and the Förderungspreis of the City of Vienna 2014. Collaborations with Ensemble such as Nadar Ensemble Belgium, Decoder Ensemble Hamburg, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Phace, RSO Vienna, Ensemble Mosaik Berlin or Talea Ensemble New York.
    For 2015 he was awarded a scholarship from the Junge Akademie and invited to Berlin by the Akademie der Künste.
    He is founder of the ensemble Black Page Orchestra as well as one of the initiators of UNSAFE+SOUNDS FESTIVAL – antidisciplinary Festival / Media Arts Music in Vienna.

  • Jason Pfister

    Jason Pfister was born in Indiana (USA) and studied with Kendall Betts, Daniel Katzen and Christoph Walder. He devotes a lot of time to new music and has completed a master’s degree in this subject at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He has worked with composers such as Jorge E. Lopez, Tristan Murail, Friedrich Cerha, Brice Pauset, Johannes Staud, Bernhard Lang, Francesco Filidei, Beat Furrer, Wolfgang Rihm and Wolfgang Liebhart and performs regularly on the new music scene with various ensembles, including Klangforum Wien, ensemble XXI. jahrhundert, Ensemble PHACE, Black Page Orchestra, Punctum Collective and WISE. He also plays in the Jazzorchester Vorarlberg and can be heard on their CD “LEELAH – a contemporary Jazz Opera”.

    Roberto Romeo, born in Hanau (Germany) in 2000, began his artistic career in the school theatre at his high school and gained experience in various amateur theatre groups. He is now studying acting in his second semester at the Max Reinhardt Seminar of the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and can be seen in his first production at the isaFestival 2022.

    Ira Süssenbach was born in Krasnoyarsk (Russia) in 1992. She studied economics in Moscow and then made a career in the financial sector in Vienna. Since 2019 she has been studying acting direction at the Max Reinhardt Seminar of the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where she staged “der thermale widerstand” by Ferdinand Schmalz as her pre-diploma production in December 2021. Her next premiere will be in November 2022 in the Neue Studiobühme of the Max Reinhardt Seminar.

  • Taikan Yamasaki

    The percussionist Taikan Yamasaki was born in Japan in 1995. He studied percussion at the Tokyo College of Music in Japan with Atsushi Sugahara, Momoko Kamiya, Shoichi Kubo and Hidemi Murase.
    As a soloist, he won 2nd prize in the marimba category at the 34th Japan Wind and Percussion Competition.
    Since 2019 he continues his studies at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Josef Gumpinger. He is also a substitute in the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Bad Reichenhall Philharmonic Orchestra, Ensemble Kontrapunkte and the Wien Modern Festival.
