TARGET GROUP, COURSE STRUCTURE, REPERTOIRE, and COURSE LANGUAGE
Graduate and postgraduate students or highly advanced undergraduates with performing experience.
Arrival: 11 August
Departure: 25 August
Welcome meeting & Commencement of activities: 12 August
Lessons are taught by one professor or by a pre-determined combination of professors.
Every participant will receive at least 6 lessons of 45 minutes each.
The master class repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary music. Previous years have always seen special attention paid to Viennese Classicism, to works by Central and Eastern European Composers, and to the music of the Second Viennese School. isa also encourages all students to bring along repertoire that has to do with the current year's theme or is linked to it in terms of music history.
Learn about the background of your works, and use the power of your imagination!
WORKSHOPS, LECTURES, and COACHING SESSIONS
Alongside the two-week master classes given by well-known, leading artistic personalities, isa also offers participants additional learning opportunities in the form of workshops, lectures, and coaching sessions.
As part of the concerts and auditions during the second week, prizes will be awarded for outstanding interpretations of certain works (master class-specific and isa-wide).
For the orchestra concert on 19 August participants will have the opportunity to make an audition for the following solo positions:
Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor, 1st movement
Scottish Fantasy for Violin & Orchestra, 2nd movement
Auditions will take place on 12 August 2019.
The isaFestival is the presentation platform for all isa participants, providing the opportunity to perform in public as part of its concerts.
Exceptionally high artistic quality (soloist-level) is required.
Selection and final decisions regarding invitations to perform are made by isa's artistic director.
